Thursday night welcomed a flurry of sequins, chiffon, big hair and
excited fashionalities to Brookfield Place for the 17th Annual WA
Fashion Awards. Not even the stifling evening heat (something I now
consider synonymous with all Perth Fashion Festival Events) could dampen
the buzz as everyone prepared for the announcement of the top movers
and shakers in Perth's fashion industry for 2013.
Conversation flowed just as freely as the alcohol (coincidence maybe?), and I managed to formally introduce myself to a number of people I have previously been to shy to introduce myself to. That marks another one of my New Year's Resolutions off my list - to 'put myself out there more'.
The ceremony itself was held in the foyer of Brookfield place, a much more formal and sterile setting to last year's awards. With allocated seating and minimal decoration, I felt this year's ceremony was not as invinting and exciting as last year's shabby chic event, however the air-conditioning and more streamlined ceremony was a very welcome change. We were even treated to a short performance by an aerial artist, and a runway show by some tin man looking models.
Congratulations to all the nominees and all the category winners on the night - all of the nominees deserved a win in my eyes!
