Noah's Ark

It only seems natural that, after yesterday's post discussing how I am managing to re-invent my stagnant wardrobe, I let you all in on what it is exactly that I am lusting after. I could bore you for days on end with all the things I want to buy, but I managed to narrow it down to just 10 things for now. Following this weekend's blogger garage sale (get your butts down there and raid our wardrobes or else!), I am hoping to have a) downgraded my wardrobe to only those pieces that I know I will be wearing in the near future, and b) made a butt load of cash-ola so I can go out and treat myself to something new.

1. ASOS Hyper Platforms | 2. The Mountain Panda T-Shirt | 3. Hudson Nico Jeans - Photo Forest | 4. Country Road Cable Hi Lo Knit | 5. Elixir Epiphany Cuff | 6. Carven Platform Sandle Wedge | 7. Everyday Denim Overalls | 8. Viktoria + Woods Atlantis Coat | 9. My Secret Agent Lover Man Roar Necklace | 10. Carven Safari Print Bag

It appears that I have grown quite a fondness for animal prints and all shades of blue this winter. The last phase I went through (which I think is still going rather strong despite having entered a new phase also) was food and food related items. Anything that had a pineapple, laksa or sushi printed on it needed to be mine. Right now, anything that has an animal printed on it - quite different to the old 'animal print' trend - is grabbing my attention. While some of what I am lusting over really isn't all that practical for our fast approaching winter (take the ASOS heels for example), I figure there are ways that I can make it work. Socks and sandals and crazy lady layering anyone?

P.S. Make sure you check out the ASOS State of Fashion gallery. There are some rad looks coming from the WA ladies, not to mention the rest of Australia.

Party Time, Excellent!

On Saturday we had the great pleasure of attending our friends' engagement party. We arrived at noon feeling very joyous, warm and fuzzy, and left at 5.00pm not feeling our toes or remembering how we got there in the first place. Along with the copious amounts of alcohol, there were plenty of smiles and a huge group of good friends that I was so happy to be in the company of. The venue (Neighbourhood Pizza in Mt Hawthorn) was just gorgeous - a very rustic and homely space - and the minimal decorations just perfect.

As this post would indicate, this is what I chose to wear to the engagement party. If dresses had personalities, this Little Gracie dress would be "cute, bubbly and a little bit shy". Ruffles that read "I am fun and flouncy" and a button up collar that follows it up with "but also a little bit sensible and slightly reserved". It seemed just perfect for a semi-formal, romantic occasion such as an engagement. The "formal heels that are barely even heels" were also a smart choice, as I realised later that night when I hadn't yet had a stumble despite being under the influence of champagne.

Cool Calm and Collected

Some days call for a simple outfit of jeans and a white tee... like days where my entire body aches. I do realise that I completely contradict myself by completing my simple, achey-body outfit with sky high glitter Campbells. If I wasn't going to be in a room full of fashion bloggers for morning tea, I would have forgone the heels and slipped on a pair of vans or shoes of a similar comfort level. I am now suffering in my jocks. Not only are my knees, ankles and hips aching, my glutes and Achilles hurt to touch. Moral of the story - dancing after a 2 week break and wearing sky high heels after a long hiatus really do not mix. Glitter Campbells and jeans are, however, perfect.

Blogger Garage Sale

Who would have thought that a bunch of bloggers had overflowing wardrobes in need of a thorough culling? How absurd.

Bonnie Friday, Modern Girls in Vintage Pearls, Le Fanciulle, Wasted Wonderland and myself have a whole bunch of brand and no-brand items (ranging from 50c to a bazillion dollars*) ready to go to a new loving home and some little sweet delights for you to celebrate your bargain hunting prowess with also. So save the date my friends because nobody likes to be the one who misses out!

Mum's are rad. At one stage we were their little girls (or boys), and now we are their friends too.
At one stage we were making coloured macaroni necklaces and painting their faces on t'shirts for them, and now we have graduated to cooking them large meals and spending the day conversing with them on a (sometimes) adult level (our families can never avoid the poo jokes).

Today Joel and I put on a bit of a spread for our beloved mums. We cooked a fresh breakfast for my mum and my brother, then a huge roast lamb for lunch with Joel's parents and grandparents. Between all the food and chatter we drank oodles of tea, gave bunches and bunches of flowers and shared recipes for sweets. It was so nice to be able to cook for our mums, something they did for us for so many years of our lives. It is only a small action, but it felt like the perfect gift.

Like Flowers in the Breeze

As we hurtle closer and closer towards the colder, darker, rainier months, memories of our long and sunny summer seem so distant. In a last ditch effort to embrace and remember our sunnier days, I pulled this maxi out of the bottom of the washing basket hiding. I don't think I have worn it since we made the move from North Perth into Perth... so that makes it a whole year since I last pulled it out. It is a shame really as I love the dress so much. I love it even though it requires bike shorts for it to be appropriate. I love it even though I stand on the bottom of it with almost every step I take. I love it even though dirty old men find it perfectly OK to throw a casual stare my way when I wear it.

Walk the Line

This outfit was the product of laziness, a desire for comfort, and the fact that - in between all of the laziness and comfort seeking - I had to go to work. Stripes, black and white and bright flats seemed like the easiest lazy work outfit.
Appropriateness level for the office = questionable, comfort level = out of this world.
When have I ever been one to toe the line when it comes to conforming to corporate office standards anyway? They should count themselves lucky I came to work the way I did - I could have easily shown up at work with gooey cheese dripped down my front from my delicious toasty I had for lunch and not cared. I  have zero pride when I have to go to the office - it has only ever been with this office - which is quite depressing and evidently a good indicator of how much I enjoy my job. I can't believe I even admit that on here.
