Mum's are rad. At one stage we were their little girls (or boys), and now we are their friends too.
At one stage we were making coloured macaroni necklaces and painting
their faces on t'shirts for them, and now we have graduated to cooking
them large meals and spending the day conversing with them on a
(sometimes) adult level (our families can never avoid the poo jokes).
Today Joel and I put on a bit of a spread for our beloved mums. We
cooked a fresh breakfast for my mum and my brother, then a huge roast
lamb for lunch with Joel's parents and grandparents. Between all the
food and chatter we drank oodles of tea, gave bunches and bunches of
flowers and shared recipes for sweets. It was so nice to be able to cook
for our mums, something they did for us for so many years of our lives.
It is only a small action, but it felt like the perfect gift.
